Home Care

Introduction

The Home Care Service is part of the Community Care Section of the Comhairle.  Its Mangers and the staff it employs are accountable to the Elected Members and Officers of the Council.

The Home Care Service is also registered with the Care Commission.  The Care Commission registers and inspects the Home Care Service, taking into account the National Care Standards published by Scottish Ministers.

About the Home Care Service

The CnES Home Care Service organises and provides care for people living at home who may need help with:

Personal Care
Meal Preparation
Shopping.

We can also give some support with Housework an maintaining social and educational activities where service users are assessed as needing this support. 

The service employs Home Care Workers who are organised in teams based on defined geographical areas.  The team normally attends to the needs of service users in a specific location, for example, the Barvas to Ness area. 

The Home Care service is managed by a team on Care Co-ordinators and Senior Care Co-ordinators located through out the Western Isles. Contact you local office between 9.00am and 5.00pm on weekdays.  An Out of Hours Service also operates on weekdays 5.00pm – 9.00am with 24 hour cover on weekends and public holidays – Tel 01851 701702.

All CnES Home Care Staff are required to attend induction training covering all aspects of their role.  An induction programme is currently being developed to include

All CnES staff are the subject of an Enhanced Disclosure Check through SCRO.
