Work on slipway continues

Work on slipway continues

Work is beginning to some of the final touches for the new ferry terminal at Aird Mhor. The breakwater is now complete, work has started to reinstate and restore the area used as a rock source, and the slipway concreting is complete.

Among other progress in the days up to January 12, 2002, the work included:

A mobile concrete pump and a 35-tonne crawler crane arrived for the construction of the offshore part of the Alignment / Berthing Structure. One of the tracked excavators went home leaving three tracked excavators on site and one of the dump trucks is offhire leaving only one being used.

Personnel: 20 total of which 9 are resident in the Western Isles.

Weather: Fair Mon to Thursday becoming wet Friday and wet and windy Saturday
