Beinn Mhor Power Ltd Application

An application was lodged with the Scottish Ministers by Beinn Mhor Power Ltd on the 1st December 2004 for consent under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 to construct and operate a 133 three-megawatt turbine windfarm and associated infrastructure, on the Eisgein Estate, Isle of Lewis. An Environmental Statement accompanied the application.

Since the application was lodged, the proposed windfarm has been reduced considerably . In January 2010 Scottish Ministers granted consent under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 and a direction under section 57(2)of the Townand Country Planning (Scotland) Act for the construction and operation of Muaitheabhal Wind Farm .The consent includes 33 turbines, five site access points, and approximately.16.5 km of internal access tracks.The decision may be viewed on the Energy Consents Web Site
