Tell Us Once (Registration of Birth)
When you have a new baby there are a number of government departments and council services that need to be told. Up until now you have had to notify all these departments individually. The Tell Us Once service aims to reduce the number of local and central government departments that new parents have to contact.
Tell Us Once will be offered automatically when you call to book an appointment with the Registration service. Please book in advance. It is an optional service but most people choose to use this service as it saves them time at a stage in their lives when they are busy looking after a new baby.
Who we can give information to
We can notify the following organisations after you have registered a birth: -
- Child benefit
- Employment Support Allowance
- Families Information Service
- Housing and Council Tax Benefit
- Incapacity benefit
- Income Support
- Job Seekers Allowance
- Tax credits
Information you will need to use the service
We want to make sure we give the right information to any organisations we contact on your behalf, so we will ask you for:
- Parent(s) National Insurance number
