Parents and carers can use the placing request online form, to request a school outside of your catchment area. This is called a placing request.
A placing request for a mainstream school will only be granted after places have been given to children living in the catchment area.
NOTE:
Making a voluntary placing request to a school other than your designated catchment school forfeits entitlement to school transport. Parents/carers are responsible for organising transport in such circumstances themselves.
If a parent wants to make a placing request for their child to go to a different school during a school year, the council has up to two months to make a decision. Where possible, an in-year placing request outcome will be provided sooner than this.
Pupils are expected to attend their current school throughout the Placing Request process until they have enrolled, and they physically attend the receiving school. If the pupil is withdrawn by their parent/guardian or stops attending in anticipation of the transfer, they will be recorded as unauthorised absence.
