(Last updated : 20/03/2020)

Local Help Leaflets

We have produced some Local Help flyer and postcard templates for anyone who may want to use in their area. We have tried to make these generic for different places, but if you would like us to tweak them for you especially, please get in touch.

No Overdues or Rental Charges

If you have borrowed an item from us, but are unable to return it due to the current UK government guidelines in place, please don’t worry – you shouldn’t get any overdue notices. If you do, just ignore them!  We won’t be charging any rental charges on DVDs and CDs either.

Mobile Library and Housebound Services

The mobile library service has been stopped temporarily, but we are looking at ways we might be able to make drop-offs of books to those unable to access our e-resources. Please contact us if this is something that may be of interest.

eBooks and Audiobooks

e-Audiobooks and e-Books

Library members can download free eBooks and eAudiobooks online. These services can be accessed using your library card number and PIN code.

Newspapers and Information

It may look a bit dull, but European Newsstream (Opens in a new window or downloads a file) gives you access to the text of a range of UK newspapers and some magazines too. These include The Statesman, Spectator, the P&J, Stornoway Gazette, The Scotsman and more.

We also have access to the Encyclopedia Britannica Online (Opens in a new window or downloads a file), through Britannica World and Britannica Images.  There are three levels as well, Junior, Student and Adult.

For a full list of our online resources please visit our Online Resources page.

Library Card Number and PIN Code

To access most of our online service you will require your library card number and PIN code. Your library card number can be found on the back of your library card, beneath the barcode. The PIN should have been set to the last 4 digits of your card number. If this doesn’t work, you can request to reset your password/PIN. Or, you can get in touch with us for help!
