The date of Her Majesty the Queen’s State Funeral has been confirmed as Monday 19 September 2022. The UK Government has announced this date will also be a bank holiday to mark the last day of the period of National Mourning.
Government has advised that schools across Scotland that would normally be closed on a bank holiday should close on that day as mark of respect and all Comhairle-operated schools and nurseries will be fully closed to pupils and staff on Monday 19th September. All activities, meetings or events associated with schools or nurseries are also cancelled on this date.
In addition to the closure of office buildings, all non-essential service such as sports facilities, museums and libraries throughout the Western Isles will be closed on Monday 19th September.
Public bus services and refuse collections will continue as normal on Monday 19th September. The Household Waste Recycling Centre at Creed is closed every Monday and will remain closed on 19th September.
Children and Adult Social Work Services will only respond to emergency situations between 9am and 5pm on Monday 19th September. If any member of the public has a significant concern about a child or adult, and that concern is unable to await a response in normal office working hours, then contact Faire on 01851701702. The essential services of Care at Home, Care Homes and Day Care Services will all be operating as normal.
