Cllr Macleod noted that Anne is the 17th individual to celebrate their 100th birthday in the Western Isles since he was elected Convener in May 2022.

Anne Chalmers was born in Sanquhar, Dumfries on Tuesday 30 September 1925. Anne spent two years as a Land Girl during World War Two and worked for 29 years for the Scottish Home and Health Department.

Anne moved to Lewis with her husband James 35 years ago initially staying in Upper Coll, before moving to Stornoway. James sadly passed away in 1997.

Anne has one Son, Alex, who also stays in Lewis.

Happy 100th Birthday Anne.
