Tinie joined Comhairle nan Eilean Siar in June 1975, 1 month after Comhairle nan Eilean Siar was founded, and retired this week on Wednesday 25 June.

Speaking on Tinie’s retirement, Cllr Kenny Macleod said:

“In May this year we came together to commemorate 50 years of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. At this event we spoke of the successes of 50 years of the Comhairle and the positive impact it has had on the Western Isles. Quite simply the first 5 decades of the Comhairle would not be a success without people, people like Tinie Macfarlane. On behalf of the communities of the Western Isles I would like to thank Tinie for her service and wish her all the best in her retirement.”

Malcolm Burr, Chief Executive of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar said:

“I would like to thank Tinie Macfarlane for 50 years of public service. To work for 5 decades at the Comhairle shows true dedication. In 50 years Tinie has seen the completion of countless projects, the continuous digitalisation of Comhairle systems, advancements in technology and the recovery from challenges such as BCCI and the Cyber-Attack. Throughout all these events Tinie’s knowledge, skills, and willingness to support others has benefited the delivery of our services. Thank you Tinie, enjoy your retirement and know that we will miss you from the Council Offices.”
