e-Sgoil’s, i-Sgoil programme aims to re-engage primary and secondary interrupted learners with education by providing them with a live, online programme of learning which can be accessed from their ‘safe space’.
i-Sgoil uses digital tools and platforms to avoid anxiety triggers and overcome barriers to learning. All learners remain registered with their own local school.
i-Sgoil staff work in partnership with school contacts, parents/carers and learners to ensure that each young person is informed, supported and listened to throughout their journey.
Interrupted learners are learners that have extended breaks in their education. There are a variety of reasons that lead to extended education breaks including ill-health, anxiety or family circumstances.
i-Sgoil 2024/25 Statistics:
- 406 requests for support received
- 231 learners supported over the course of the academic session
- 186 pupils currently engaging in online learning with i-Sgoil
- 34 pupils returned to part-time or full-time school-based learning.
e-Sgoil Head of School Steven Graham said:
“Each year there are learners in Scotland that are not able to continue their education within traditional classroom settings. For these learners i-Sgoil offers a tailored and accessible solution that is delivering real results.”
Speaking on the Evidence of Impact Report, e-Sgoil Head of School Steven Graham commented
“The 2025 Evidence of Impact Report uses data gathered over the past year to tell the overwhelmingly positive story of how digital approaches have been used to reach and support young people with their learning no matter who they are or where they are in Scotland. The commitment of our staff towards young people they have never actually met is admirable and this can be seen throughout the report. We look forward to building on this work as we look ahead to the next academic year.”
