Statement of Reasons
It is proposed to close a section of the above road between 1.30pm and 3.30pm on Sunday 5th October 2025.
The reason for this temporary road closure is in the interests of road safety during the Community Relay Triathlon event, to raise funds for a local charity. This will ensure a safe environment for participants and spectators, during the cycle and run phase of the event.
The section of road closed is: A888, Barra - from the bridge crossing the Abhainn Mhór river, adjacent to the junction to Craigston and then in a southerly direction to Castlebay School, adjacent to the junction to the Castlebay Estate Development Road (a distance of 4.1km or thereby).
Traffic will be held up at any junctions or accesses to the section of road affected by the closure as the race passes.
