Cost

To use charge posts owned by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, users must first be a member of ChargePlace Scotland at the annual cost of £20. The charge card issued to users upon joining is subsequently used to gain access to the charge posts.

Information on joining is available at ChargePlace Scotland (Opens in a new window or downloads a file).

Once the user is connected to the charge post, a minimum fee of £1 is applied followed by a £0.20 per kWh charge. The £1 minimum fee covers any charging from £0.01 - £1.00 (Ending the charge session before a kWh value of £1 has been reached will still result in the £1 charge being issued).

Invoicing to users will be administrated by ChargePlace Scotland, covering charges accumulated through use of charge points, invoices will be issued monthly providing the charge is over £5, if the charge is under £5 it may take up to 3 months for invoices to be issued.

Overstay Charge

An overstay charge is applied on Comhairle charge points to keep charge post usage as efficient as possible. Once the user reaches a predetermined time limit, they must disconnect from the charger, failure to do so will incur a £5 charge.

From 1 April 2023 the following tariffs will be applicable:

Journey Charger (43kW AC & 50kW DC/CHAdeMO connection)
