Outer Hebrides Child Protection Committee

As the Independent Chairperson of the Outer Hebrides Child Protection Committee I am delighted to welcome you to the Committee’s website.

The purpose of the Child Protection Committee is to ensure that local agencies work together to protect children. Working together with the community we can be assured that all children in our area are protected from harm and given the best possible chance in life.

These web pages will be continually updated and maintained by the Child Protection Co-ordinator and Development Officer/Lead Officer(CPC). Within the web pages you will discover a wide range of information and advice about child protection, keeping children and young people safe from harm and helpful guidance in respect of the development of Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC).

There are user-friendly links set on the right of this page taking you to current, and up to date, child protection related publications, protocols and procedures and all types of information and advice leaflets.

The recently refreshed Child Protection Inter Agency Procedures 2014 take account of the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland 2014 and help fulfill the business functions of the Child Protection Committee which are:

Public Information and Communication

  • Raising Public awareness and;
  • Involving Children, Young People and their Families
