British Sign Language
The Comhairle’s British Sign Language Plan (626.8kB) (Opens in a new window or downloads a file), as required by the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015 (Opens in a new window or downloads a file), sets out actions to be taken over the period 2018-2024. The plan is framed around the same long-term goals as the national plan which has been co-produced with BSL users across Scotland. The Comhairle is commitment to improving access to services for those using the language, and raising awareness of BSL.
BSL Users can use ‘contactSCOTLAND-BSL (Opens in a new window or downloads a file)’, the Scottish Government’s nationally funded BSL online interpreting video relay services. This is a free service which allows BSL users to contact public services and for these services to contact them. If anybody who is BSL needs a BSL interpreter to attend a Comhairle event, then they should get in touch with Customer Services (Opens in a new window or downloads a file) and one will be provided.
