Question

(a) The average length of time taken between an application being made by a Private Individual for a Disabled Person Parking Bay, and a "Temporary (unenforceable) Bay" being provided.

(b) The average length of time between the provision of a Temporary Bay and it's conversion to Enforceable Status by the granting of a TRO (Traffic Regulation Order).

This request is in regard to on-road Parking Bay provision only.

Answer

Please see information below on Disabled Persons Parking Places :

a) When a request is made for a Disabled Person Parking Bay by a private individual the location is assessed for its suitability. If this is to be progressed, it will be added to our existing programme for lining works. This type of work is determined by weather and  has to fit in with other demands on the roads team. The time taken from the request to the provision of the bay can range from  6-18 months.

b) At present we have only have 13 bays included in a Disabled Persons Parking Places Order from 2013. We are in the process of amending this order to include another 8 bays. None of these bays were requested by private individuals . The bays in the order were “on street” or were within public car parks and had been provided over the years leading up to the order.
