1. If you provide training to elected councillors who sit on your local authority Planning Committee?
2. If yes, please can you confirm:
a. What is the duration of the training?
b. Does this include the requirement to pass a test/exam?
i. If yes what options are available if this test is failed?
ii. What are the failure rates?
c. Is a refresher course provided throughout the 5 year council term?
i. If yes, what is the frequency?
d. Who provides the training - i.e. is it set by you as the local authority or an external provider?
If possible, can you provide a copy of the learning material, course schedule etc.

2. If yes, please can you confirm:
a. What is the duration of the training? – ONE HALF DAY SESSION
b. Does this include the requirement to pass a test/exam? NO
i. If yes what options are available if this test is failed?
ii. What are the failure rates?
c. Is a refresher course provided throughout the 5 year council term? THERE IS NO PROTOCOL TO THIS EFFECT BUT WE HAVE IN THE PAST PROVIDED MID-TERM REFRESHER TRAINING IN RESPONSE TO PARTICULAR CIRCUMSTANCES
i. If yes, what is the frequency?
d. Who provides the training - i.e. is it set by you as the local authority or an external provider? WE HAVE UNDERTAKEN OFFICER LED TRAINING, ISSUED THE IMPROVEMENT SERVICE BOOKLET (ATTACHED) AND HAVE ALSO ON OCCASION USED EXTERNAL TRAINER

•A brief history of the foundation and purpose of Planning
•Development Planning (guides development and sets out the policy framework by which planning applications are determined)
•Brief overview on Marine Planning
•Development Management Procedures (the process of supporting, assessing and determining planning applications)
•Member role in Planning Decisions plus Code of Conduct
•Enforcement
