BT Network
Friday, 24 August 2018Question
Please could you answer the following questions:
(1) Number of Applicants to build Full Fibre networks in your area:
For the avoidance of doubt I am interested in the number of applicants (rather than the total applications) in your area (either received or prospective). Eg if BT Openreach applies for say 5 projects, and (say) “CityFibre” 2 projects, and “Infracapital” 1 project, then the total would be 3 (rather than 8).
(2) Local Authority resources dedicated to full fibre:
(3) How would you best describe the Authority’s geography/population density?
(4) Other Questions:
Would you give approval for a road to be dug up if another operator had already dug up that particular road?
Does Virign Media operate in the area?
Answer
1. The Comhairle do not know of any type of applications requiring to be made to the Local Authority and therefore we hold no record of ‘Applications’.
2a. Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has no dedicated officer.
2b. Full Fibre is Medium to High priority for this Authority.
3. Rural area.
4a. Virgin Media don’t operate here.
4b. Yes - likely to give approval for a road to be dug up subject to appropriate Road Opening authorisation being applied for/granted
