Question

I would like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.   For the financial years 2017/18 and 2018/19.  

  • How many crossing patrollers have been employed by the council
  • How much compensation has been paid out as a result of pothole claims
  • The total roads maintenance budget
  • The number of roads maintenance workers employed by the council (FTE)
  • The number of potholes which have been repaired by the council

Answer

For the financial years 2017/18 and 2018/19:

How many crossing patrollers have been employed by the council
The Comhairle employed 2 crossing patrol officers.

How much compensation has been paid out as a result of pothole claims
The Comhairle do not hold this information.   All claims are handled by our insurers and settled by them without reference to us. 

The total roads maintenance budget
2017/18  £1,972,073
2018/19  £2,026,491

The number of roads maintenance workers employed by the council (FTE)
13 In House Roads Maintenance supplemented by private contractors as required.

The number of potholes which have been repaired by the council
2017/18 had 64 official reports of potholes which were all repaired.  Many more repaired through regular area maintenance. 2018/19 figures not yet available but repairs ongoing.
