Question

1) Within your local authority area, when do Primary 1 pupils begin a full time day? Is it from the start of term, a number of days or weeks into the term, or from the September weekend?

2) Have you ever carried out any impact studies, surveys or research into full time days for Primary 1's? For example, in 2009 Glasgow City Council carried out this research which engaged teachers, parents and pupils: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/125853/response/310349/attach/html/3/Committee%20Report1.pdf.html

Please provide copies or links if so.

3) Do headteachers have autonomy over P1 day length within your local authority area, or is this decided by the local authority centrally? Please provide details of variations of the hours offered to P1 pupils where these exist.

4) Does your local authority, or individual schools within your local authority, provide any support for working parents in the form of lunch clubs, afternoon clubs, play clubs or supervised care during the afternoons if the school day for P1's is curtailed until lunchtime at the start of the school year? If so please provide details such as a link, and information about costs etc.
