Repeat Or Additional School Years

Question

Can you please advise how many pupils were granted a repeat or additional year of schooling in the last 2 years.
 
I’d be grateful if you could also advise whether the pupils had additional support needs.
 

Answer

The practice of repeating school years is not a common occurrence in this authority as we encourage our children to continue to progress with their peer groups through all levels of their education.  We do  not hold this information centrally.  To get the actual numbers would require an exercise in each school to review their files.  That is likely to be  a time consuming exercise and one for which the Comhairle may be entitled to charge you a fee in advance.  You may threfore wish to narrow the scope of your request e.g. (limiting it to Secondary schools only) which would make it less likely to attract a fee.
