Answer

In relation to your Freedom of Information request about the use of monies in support of the Carers Act for the financial year 2018/19, a nominal resource of £429k was outlined by the Scottish Government in its financial settlement with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. However, the Scottish Government provided no formal stipulation that the resource required to be passed on to the Integration Joint Board in support of the Carers Act. Given that the Integration Joint Board had an underspend at that time, a decision was taken by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to use the resource to meet wider spending pressures.
