As per Appendix 1, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar proposes to make “The Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (B895 Newmarket to North Tolsta, Isle of Lewis) (40mph Speed Limit) Order 2012 (Gress Extension) Amendment Order 2016 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving or causing or permitting to be driven, any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour on the B895 Newmarket to North Tolsta road: from the Northern boundary fence line of the Gress Cemetery in a North Easterly direction to the junction with Na Creachan, an overall length of 520m or thereby.
Why We Are Consulting
As per Appendix 2, the reason for implementing this Order is in the interests of road safety. Full details of the proposals are in the Draft Order (appendix 3) which, together with a map showing the lengths of the roads affected at appendix 4.
