Comhairle nan Eilean Siar proposes to make “The Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Stornoway Town Centre) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2008 Amendment (No 2) Order 2016 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the amendments will be to extend or remove waiting restrictions which were promoted in the original order. This also includes the introduction of a one way system all as summarised in Appendix 1.
Why We Are Consulting
As per Appendix 2, the reason for implementing this order is to improve the existing traffic management within Stornoway town centre. The order will amend sections of the Stornoway Town Centre (Prohibition of Waiting Order) 2008 which came in to effect in 2009. The amendments cover sections of streets where changes to specific parking restrictions and the introduction of a one way system will improve the flow of traffic and also road safety.
