Consultation : Recruitment Survey

We Asked

During 2016/17, Human Resources used SurveyMoz to conduct an on-line survey in which feedback was requested from 10% of applicants undertaking the Comhairle’s recruitment process, whether successful or not, to provide information on their experience of the recruitment process. 

You Said

In total 151 applicants were e-mailed and invited to undertake the survey at appendix 1 using SurveyMoz.  30 responses were received equating to a return rate of 20%. The majority of respondents learnt about vacancies online and submitted applications electronically.  Although the feedback received was generally positive, there were a few areas where respondents felt improvements could be made, these included interview venues and the duration of the recruitment process.  The full survey results are detailed within appendix 2.

Corporate Management Team have discussed the survey results and as per the Action Plan at appendix 3, have agreed to consider ways to:

  • Streamline the recruitment process to reduce the time applicants have to wait to hear from us;
  • Review interview venues to try and improve the privacy and comfort for applicants; and
  • Explore whether we can reduce the costs of advertising.
