For your views on the provision of play areas across each multi member ward in the Western Isles.
Respondents to the survey provided their views on the play areas that should be supported.
Responses were collated and helped to provide a prioritised list of play areas across the Western Isles. This was presented to the Education, Sport & Children’s Services Committee on 26 September 2017 and recommended areas for development in consultation with communities and when funding is available.

The Comhairle understand that it is important that the local authority provide some outdoor play provision but with diminishing resources, it is not possible to provide the level and extent of provision we would like.
The challenges faced by CNES include limited capital and revenue funding, poor condition of equipment and maintenance of play parks as well as limited availability of adult volunteers or appropriate community based organisations.
For 2017/18 the Comhairle has a budget of £100k for investment in play areas across the Western Isles.
Why We Are Consulting
This survey has been produced to invite the views of the local community with regards to the provision of play parks across the Western Isles.
What Happens Next
The Comhairle will use this data with previous data and community knowledge and prepare a proposal for the play areas to be prioritised by the Comhairle for refurbishment as appropriate and when funding is available.
