Comhairle Cèilidhs Extended for Further Six Months

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Policy and Resources Committee has today agreed that the award nominated Comhairle Cèilidh program will be extended for another 6 months.

The program which encompasses both the regular Friday night Cèilidh and care home Cèilidhs has been well received since its launch in April of this year.

A Comhairle spokesperson, said: “The Comhairle Cèilidhs were established as a mechanism to keep people and communities engaged and connected during lockdown restrictions. With thousands of viewers creating a global community which gathers each Friday on the Comhairle Facebook page this initial objective has certainly been achieved.

“The extension of the Ceìlidhs to the islands’ care homes has been fantastic to see. The residents and staff of Care Homes across the country have been amongst the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. The provision of regular weekly entertainment brings a welcome distraction and has been well received across the board.”

The Comhairle Ceìlidhs continue this Friday at 9pm on the Comhairle Facebook Page with popular local artist, Calum Martin.
