UK Parliamentary General Election - 12 December 2019
The United Kingdom General Election of 2019 is due to take place on Thursday 12 December 2019 to elect a Member of Parliament (MP) to the Westminster Parliament for the Na h-Eileanan an Iar Constituency.
At general elections in the United Kingdom, voting takes place in single-member constituencies to elect Members of Parliament (MPs) to seats in the House of Commons, the lower house of the Parliament. There are 650 constituencies represented in the House, with an MP for each constituency, 59 of which are in Scotland. The leader of the party or coalition of parties that can command a majority of elected members will be invited by the British Monarch to become the next Prime Minister.
Returning Officers are responsible for the conduct of the poll in their local area. The Returning Officer for the Na h-Eileanan an Iar Constituency is Mr Malcolm Burr.
