Consulted to establish the views of the community of South Uist on the boundary of the catchment between Sgoil an Iochdar and Sgoil Dhalabroig.
The consultation consisted of drop-in sessions and public meetings at each school and an online survey that was open for the required 30 term-time days. There were 101 attendees at the meetings and 75 responses were received to the online survey.
The outcome of the consultation confirmed that the significant majority of respondents wished to retain existing catchment boundaries at a rate of 68%, with an additional 7% not expressing a particular view. 25% were supportive of a rezoning change.
Following consideration of the findings of the consultation by the Comhairle at ESCS Committee it was decided to retain the status quo and not change the catchment boundary.
The Comhairle decided at its ESCS Committee to not proceed with any rezoning proposals discussed in the consultation as the significant majority of respondents wished to retain existing catchment boundaries.
Preliminary first-stage informal consultation on rezoning the catchments of Daliburgh and Iochdar Schools. This stage of the consultation includes:
- Informal drop-in meetings at the two schools (11-13 February)
- Online survey to be open for at least 30 term-time days.
Following receipt of a request to review the catchment boundaries between the two schools, the Comhairle agreed to commence the first-stage informal consultation as per the requirement of the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010.
Following conclusion of the informal consultation, findings from the drop-in sessions and the online consultation will be compiled into a report that will be presented to the ESCS Committee in April 2025, where the Comhairle will make a decision on the next step of the process.
