If you are a consumer and want to report an issue with a trader or have an ongoing issue that you need help with, please contact our partner Advice Direct Scotland (ADS) who deals with all initial enquiries. You can get advice on
- goods that are faulty, not fit for their purpose, or described incorrectly,
- services that have not been carried out with reasonable care and within a reasonable time or for an acceptable price,
- what to do if you think you have been scammed.
Their consumer advisors can:
- Provide practical and impartial advice on how to resolve your consumer problem.
- Inform you of your legal rights and which consumer laws may apply to your situation.
- Where a complaint relates to criminal legislation enforced by Trading Standards, pass relevant information onto Trading Standards who may decide whether further investigation is required (They will only contact you if additional information is needed)
Contact ADS’ helpline on 0808 164 6000 to speak to an advisor or online at Contact - Consumer advice. More information on consumer-related topics is available in the Consumer Advice Knowledge Centre.
If after speaking to Advice Direct Scotland you require further assistance, you can contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
