Grant Aid

Details of Grant Aid available to members of ClubSport Lewis and Harris and how to apply.

ClubSport Lewis and Harris will administer grant aid funding on behalf of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and the Western Isles Health Board. Both Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and the Western Isles Health Board encourage sports clubs and organisations to join and engage in the activities of ClubSport Lewis and Harris. Grants will only be available to affiliated and paid-up members of ClubSport Lewis and Harris.

These grants are intended to provide support to local sports clubs and organisations, and, in certain circumstances, individuals who are members of ClubSport Lewis and Harris.

Applications will be considered from clubs, organisations and individuals who have been affiliated to ClubSport Lewis and Harris for a minimum of three months (this does not apply for any clubs who are applying for start-up grants).

Applications for grant will be considered at meetings of the Executive Committee and must be submitted to the Secretary of ClubSport Lewis and Harris at least 5 days prior to the Executive Committee meeting.

An application for grant aid which is submitted after the grant aid deadline will only be considered by the Executive Committee in extenuating circumstances.

What categories of grant aid are available?

Start-up grants of up to £100 may be available to recently formed clubs which have a constitution.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment towards the success of the club, provide a detailed outline of the club’s aims and objectives and submit properly costed information on how they propose to use the grant.

Clubs in receipt of a start-up grant must maintain their membership of the local Sports Council.  If they do not, reimbursement of the start-up grant may be sought.
