The criteria for this award require the nominee to have made a significant voluntary contribution as an administrator, coach, or official to local sport over an extended period. The award cannot be presented to a competitor, performer, team, or club, nor to an employee of a local authority or similar agency whose contribution is part of their paid employment.

The Community Coach Award will be presented to a coach who has supported the development of athletes or teams, primarily over the age of 18, and has significantly increased sporting opportunities and participation levels within their community.
