Corporate Parenting (Good Parenting)

Corporate Parenting (Good Parenting)

Just as a parent's responsibility for their child does not stop when they leave home, local councils have a responsibility as ‘Corporate Parents’ to look out for the welfare of children and young people with care experience.

In the Western Isles, we want to be Good Parents to our care experienced children and young people and improve their experiences, opportunities and outcomes. Services who support and work with children and young people with care experience meet quarterly with a focus on discussing the support currently offered, the needs of services users and to plan continued improvement to the experience of care in the Western Isles.

Representatives of the Promise Champions group attend these meetings to elevate the voices and lived experiences of care experienced children and young people.
