A wide range of SQA Gaelic (Learners) National Qualification courses are now open to students from across Scotland. Courses start in August 2025 and are delivered in partnership with University of the Highlands and Islands North, West and Hebrides. Evening courses will be available at National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher and will support those learners who are at the beginning of their language journey, as well as those approaching fluency.

This will be the 5th year of e-Sgoil's evening course offer and over 80 learners were presented for SQA exams just last month. Learning online from the comfort of one’s own home has proved to be a popular and successful approach, with a remarkable 82% of students gaining a grade A in their exams last session.

Speaking of the positive aspects of e-Sgoil's course offer, students have described it as “convenient” and with a “high quality of teaching”. A recent student commented “I feel very optimistic that I will be fluent sooner than I could have thought, studying alone.”

e-Sgoil Principal Teacher of Gaelic Catriona Currie said:

“Over the last number of years, there has been a continued increase in the e-Sgoil community of adult Gaelic learners, from across Scotland. Learners come with a wide range of experience and fluency. All benefit from access to regular, easily accessible online classes with quality resources and supportive teaching. Observing our adult learners achieve increased fluency and academic success is particularly gratifying.”
